Language is a mirror that reflects society and the world, and a dictionary is a mirror that reflects language.
Since its initial publication in 1988, ‘Daijirin’ has been committed to reflecting the entirety of the Japanese language, from everyday words to specialized terms, spanning from ancient to modern times.
All in the pursuit of providing a solid foundation with precise language, to pave the way for a new era.
Building on more than 130 years of dictionary-making achievements, ‘Daijirin Fourth Edition’ is the culmination of our combined efforts.
Both of these projects are in need of developers!
If you found this dictionary interesting and have the programming knowledge and time, please give back to the community and help us convert more Mkd dictionaries!
Both are correct, but from a dictionary point of view 平仮名 makes more sense since it’s not a 外来語. I guess they decided to standardize such occurrences in the fourth edition.
But it seems that the entries in this version are incomplete?
I remember that the original author used the entries from another dictionary for the crawl, but the 日本国語大辞典 has a very large number of entries.
EDIT: Sorry, it seems that Monokaik ido only have 精選版日本国語大辞典
I don’t think entries are missing, it’s just that the way the headwords are formatted makes it hard to create search entries for it. For this purpose, headwords were analyzed from a variety of dictionaries in order to be able to properly generate search terms.
Absolutely, the original version is absolutely huge and might not be suitable to everyone’s tastes. That being said, other dictionaries might be prioritized over this one. We would absolutely love if rust/python developers could help us implement more dictionaries.
