Hello, freinds.
I am sharing an overview of my next project.
Merriam-Webster’s Dictionray, Thesaurus, Rhymes all unified under one project. Any thoughts and suggestions are welcome to make improvement. I have everything set. Only scrapping is left which not a matter of complexity but will take time. I have less than 4 hours to harvest data per day. It will take some time. I will have it ready by summer vacations (July/August) if something important does not occupy me first. Here i share a screenshot and video on how it will look when finished. I ask all members to share your toughts and suggestions regarding this to make improvement. Thanks for you patience and advice.
Could you please let’s know first where your data is from and is it reliable and trusty. We already have many MDXs from MW, so how different is yours from them.
My data is from M-W official stie. I know there is a MW dictionary. But as the title suggests it contain more. As far as the reliability is concerned, this is not my first post here. You can check my previous work if you have any trust related issue, or wait for till the data is published and see for yourself. Thank you for posting
I recently noticed someone made a request for resource there.
Let me know if you want this feature in this dictionray, as well.
It is as so;
Simple Definition: Grabs important Definition from “Advanced Learner’s Dictionary”
Full Definition: Grabs Definition from “Merriam-Webster” classic/core/whatever you call it.
Unabridged: Best for reading Old / Middle English, e.g. Shakespeare
Those familiar with Shakespeare will know what goes the hidden definition of above word. Shakespeare used in a different term. I can say he is pioneer of slangs
I will need a subscription for unabridged as it no longer free. I will definitely add it with time. I will investigate and add what can be added. Thanks for your suggestion
hey. I investiagted. Thus far i could not find any financial section on the web. It would see that it has been phased out. I will include Unabridged section, as the name suggests it contains everything recorded to the date. So, i hope financial section is covered in Uabridged. i will update you once i get a subscription soon
I check financial section again, and confirm it is NOT part of unabridge.
each word in financial is written in a form of 3 paragraphs, so it’s totally different from tranditional dictionary. So it’s a individual dictionary, and now not provided in official site.(I can not find this dictionary in other place as well, no mdx is found)
afterall, sometimes getting everything in hand is infeasible. and the content we can visit now is plentiful indeed. so forget about it.
(and who knows, whether “legal” and “medical” sections will be phased out in future? )
