,number缩写成NO. 的,特别是后者,NO(number)不加点很容易被混淆成NO(不)。

    • 例如:etc.(et cetera)、e.g.(exempli gratia)、i.e.(id est)、Dr.(Doctor)。
  • 拉丁语来源的缩写:如 a.m./p.m.vs.(versus)。
J.K. Rowling

NASAUNESCOlaser(Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation)。
  • 国家代码/单位符号:如 USAkg(千克)、cm(厘米)。

  • 科技文本(如代码、术语)中通常不加句点,例如 AI(Artificial Intelligence)、HTTP

  • 不加句点:SomethingSMTH(全大写形式,如短信缩写)。

Hello! Thanks for sharing your awesome work! I would just like to ask whether the difference in the wedge symbol shown in the attached picture has a special meaning or is just a bug.

No! The ‘see’ entry only has two, but the ‘saw’ entry has five!

they belong to different classes

I don’t know exactly the difference between the two classes.

I think 【.gramexa】is more “fixed”

Oh! I didn’t know that! Thank you very much for explaining!

Could it be due to the difference in dictionary software or the MDX versions?

OK, I’ve c

hecked your version in GoldenDict-NG, and the result is as follows:

The Eudict PC version only has three results for the entry ‘saw’. The MDX is identical.

Based on the analysis of the JavaScript code snippet in lm6:

Code Snippet: Homograph Number Processing

homnum = hw.siblings(".homnum");
if (homnum.length) hw.siblings(".homnum").append(`/${heads.length}`);

Purpose:

Adds total count information to homograph number indicators in dictionary entries

Functionality:

  1. Target Identification:

    • Finds all homograph number elements (.homnum) that are siblings of the current headword element (hw)
    • hw represents the dictionary headword (main entry word)
  2. Conditional Check:

    • Verifies if any homograph number elements exist (homnum.length)
    • Only proceeds if homograph numbers are present
  3. Content Modification:

    • Appends formatted text /{total-count} to existing homograph numbers
    • heads.length provides the total number of homograph entries
    • Example transformation: ²²/3

Contextual Behavior:

  • Before:

    <span class="homnum">²</span>

  • After:

    <span class="homnum">²/3</span>

Technical Implementation:

  1. jQuery Methods:

    • .siblings(): Finds elements at same DOM hierarchy level
    • .append(): Modifies content while preserving existing elements
  2. Template Literal:

    • Uses backticks (`) for string interpolation
    • Dynamically inserts heads.length value

Dictionary-Specific Use Case:

  • Helps users understand:
    • Current homograph position (e.g., 2nd homograph)
    • Total homographs available (e.g., 3 total)
    • Relationship: current position/total homographs

Visual Effect:

- bear² (meaning: animal)
- bear² (meaning: endure)
+ bear²/3 (meaning: animal)
+ bear²/3 (meaning: endure)
+ bear³/3 (meaning: financial)

The GoldenDict app presumably uses a ‘morphology’ feature as part of its entry processing strategy. When you look up ‘saw’ (锯子), it likely treats this as an inflected form of ‘see’ (看见), which would result in an incorrect homograph count. If you disable this option, the count should immediately return to normal – at least in theory (I haven’t actually used GoldenDict myself; this is just speculation).

either ditch ur additional css codes or mobile…

cool it dude,juz a joke, can’t u simply lighten things up…
