我一般使用的是ODE3(配新牛津的汉译那种).但有时发现,ODE2的解释好像更容易让人深入理解一点.试举一例:
新牛津的解释强调了为获利而插手,而ODE3并没有直接强调这一点.
我查了下别的几个词典，muscle (in)应该强调的是强力介入，没有强调为了获利。当然了新牛津v2里也用了typically。
AHD: muscle v.intr: to make one’s way by or as if by force
MWU: muscle intr.v. 1b: to overcome opposition by force – usually used with in
OED:muscle v. 2.3 intr. slang. to intrude into the bussiness, sphere of influence, etc., of another or others, esp. by force; to enter forcibly or uninvited. With in (on), into.
MW now:
to use force or influence in a way that is wrong or unwanted in order to become involved in something for selfish reasons —usually + on
Macquarie Dictionary:
(sometimes followed by on) to force one’s way in, especially by violent means, trickery, or in the face of hostility, in order to obtain a share of something.
Colins Cobuild:
If someone muscles in on something, they force their way into a situation where they have no right to be and where they are not welcome, in order to gain some advantage for themselves. [disapproval]
这几本的解释感觉比较细致，总结了这几个点看对不对：
- 介入方在物理或者非物理力量(力量、能力、经济实力、影响力等)方面应该有相对优势，才能做到force into
- 介入的方式粗暴，不够光明正大或者不受欢迎
- 介入的目的是出于私心，获得本不该有的份额(包括知情权等抽象的东西，也不是说把什么东西全拿走独占)，可以说是获利，但未必是直接的经济利益。
- 用于贬义
