Science Fiction

Colossal spaceships in the shape of streamlined butterflies were seen above many of the earth’s major cities. Hovering physically above yet crushing psychologically downward, these otherworldly metal clouds moved as imperceptibly as do their terrestrial counterparts of a fine windless day. Menacing as they looked, they didn’t seem to devour or enslave this fledgling civilization theirs towered over by at least thousands of years. As human beings around the globe panicked in the shadows of these highly-advanced-looking craft, all boasting a sleek surface and singular designs, their undersides transformed as their constituent panels flipped simultaneously in the thousands. After a fleeting, dazzling light a hundred times brighter than that of the sun, the undersides of these spaceships turned into huge screens on which a human woman appeared, announcing in the local language the purpose of their arrival. The woman said they were intergalactic wanderers and didn’t mean to disturb the peace of this planet. Their fleet simply detected the presence of the much-needed water and minerals as they passed Earth by chance. To further disarm the human race, this alien leader, disguised as a human woman named Anna, claimed they would like to exchange their advanced technologies for the supplies, and promised to leave at once after being replenished. People changed the suspicious and hostile attitude—the military were on the ground with their modest weaponry—they had toward these extraterrestrials. Some compassionate ones even clapped in unison, naively believing in Anna’s sincerity and hoping to befriend her and her folks coming from a distant world. But is that the truth?
