有些中国谚语在一般汉英词典里找不到(也许某本词典有，但我没看到)，但是可以在网上搜集英译。
今天找到一则：

Throw out one punch now to avoid a hundred punches in the future.
这句谚语见于《汉语方言大词典·第一卷》，是湘语。进了《长津湖》的台词。
例句：
1.抗美援朝战争的胜利，的确起到了毛泽东所预测的“打得一拳开，免得百拳来”的效果。(《党的文献》)

事出反常必有妖。

这个翻译有两处值得商榷，一是英文句型，When …, there be … 二是对“妖”的理解。
相较之下，我觉得《环球时报》的翻译更好一点。又参考以下这篇文章：
原句中的“妖”可能是《现代汉语通用规范字典》中的释义❸
故，在《环球时报》基础上，并参考“有志者事竟成”的翻译，尝试翻译如下：
Where there is abnormality, there is weirdness.

abnormality和weirdness意思过于接近，这话等于是when there’s X, there’s X，变废话了。
