keep (on)之后不能接动词不定式,而是与动词的ing形式连用,表示两个意思:重复和继续。在此结构中,keep on的意思跟keep相同,但含有强调重复性和决心之义,例如:

kill, slay, murder, assassinate, slaughter, massacre

这6个词都可表示“杀死”。kill最为常用,意思是“杀死”、“使丧生”,例如:

My uncle was killed in a plane crash.我叔叔死于飞机失事。

slay为书面语,侧重表示残杀,例如:

He slew the giant.他杀死了巨人。

murder侧重表示使用非法手段,有目的有预谋地杀害他人,例如:
