先查“米”，《大辞海》说：“在公制中，以通过巴黎子午线全长的四千万分之一作为1米。”首先，子午线即经线，这是没有疑问的；其次，这里说米是经线的四千万分之一，说明把经线理解成了绕地球一圈的圆，而不是现在通行理解的半圆（另外，这里说的也不准确，当时的定义应为北极经巴黎到赤道这一段经线的千万分之一）。另查“经线”：“亦称“经度圈”。地球上一切通过地轴的平面同地面相割而成的圆，即所有经度圈都是地球大圆，它们在南北两极相交，并被等分成的两个半圆。方向表示当地的南北方向，故亦称“子午线”。1884年国际经度会议决定以通过英国伦敦格林尼治天文台（1957年天文台已迁往东南沿海的赫斯特蒙苏〔Herstmonceux〕）的经线，为全球的本初子午线。”这里再次明确定义了经线是圆。其实这里已经可以看出问题了，因为本初子午线绝不可能是圆，那样岂不是现在的180度经线也被包括在内，0度经线可有两个起点？查我常用的其他工具书，包括《现代汉语规范词典》、《教育部重編國語辭典》、《漢語大詞典》及《近現代漢語辭源》，不论历史上还是现在，经线都是半圆（或平面世界地图上连接南北极的线），而目前的在线版《大辞海》似乎仍保留这几个定义，各位看是不是有问题？ ---

辞海把『经度圈』当成『经线』，然后就有相关一连串的错误了…… 莫不是因为『纬度圈』=『纬线』，所以想当然地“统一”了一下…… ---

感觉根源在于英语里meridian即是指大圆（经度圈），同样也可以指半圆（经线）， 如W3： (1) : **a great circle** on the surface of the earth passing through the poles and any given place (2) : **the half of such a circle** included between the poles with a plane coinciding with that of the astronomical meridian of the place OED2： **The great circle** (of the earth) which lies in the plane of the celestial meridian of a place, and which passes through the place and the poles; also often applied to that **half of this circle** that extends from pole to pole through the place. 《辞海》里“经线”同样有两种解释： 《大辞海·世界地理卷》和《辞海7》说：（经线）亦称“经度圈”。 《大辞海·天文学地球科学卷》和《辞海5》则说：所有经度圈都是地球 **大圆** ，它们在南北两极相交，并被等分为两个半圆，这样的 **半圆** 称为“经线”。 问题在于这些解释里都说了“在同一经线上的各个地点，都有相同的经度”，这句话则显然只能在半圆上成立。 ---

确实有可能，不过meridian更常见的意思应是经线（半圆），OALD9和LDCE6都只给了这一个解释。《大辞海·天文学地球科学卷》的定义我之前没仔细看，确实这里的定义是正确的，却明显和《大辞海·世界地理卷》矛盾了 ---

另外，《中国大百科全书》我没下，有没有哪位下了的帮忙看看里面怎么定义经线或子午线的？ ---

有趣，这可能是地理或者测绘上特殊的用法，经线时而是经线，时而是经线圈。另外，也很有趣的是在说经线时严谨地说是椭圆，纬线却说是圆，但严谨地说纬线也是椭圆
