1）文章前后矛盾。第一段说是 “only surviving member”, 后面又说是 “he and Mohammad Abrini are the only two still alive”
2）最后一段中的判刑时间交代不清，应为2018年4月23日，读者会误认为是紧接前一句的逮捕时间2016年。

3）这两处似乎应该是过去式？

1）这句话写的很有问题，会产生歧义。

首先要了解美国军队的架构和相应术语：
the U.S. Armed Forces: 美军，国家全部武装力量总称，包含海、陆、空、海军陆战队、太空军和海岸警卫队等六大units
the U.S. Army：美国陆军，注意 “Army” 在美国只代表“陆军”，不能混同于“美军”这个总概念。

the Army National Guard: 陆军国民警卫队。因为还有 the Air National Guard, 空军国民警卫队
该部队有两项职能：1.作为各州自己的军事武装，2.作为美国陆军的后备军
同理，空军国民警卫队是各州的空军武装和美国空军的预备军

所以原文 The Army National Guard, in conjunction with the Air National Guard, is an organized militia force 写到这里都是没有问题的，但继续往下写 and a federal military reserve force of the United States Army 等于是把 “空军国民警卫队“ 混入了 ”美国陆军".

而另外一个词条中的描述就十分准确：

这里的 “or” 理应用 “and”
