这里的without并不是你说的“无条件虚拟语气”。 ---

根据具体语境，只能表示推测，如果说是表达“过去的一般能力”，该如何准确翻译这个句子。 ---

是without结构表伴随情况状语吗？ 请自己比较你给出的答案属于哪一种情况？也就是，按照你的答案（could have driven）应该是什么语法结构？如果是别的答案又应该什么语法结构？ ---

图片上已经注明用“情态动词+have+done”表示对过去的推测，主要说得是题目本身有问题，况且原答案也是表“现在推测”的翻译。 ---

这里我并没有一定要理解为可能，我可以他理解为可以，其实语法很玄妙的，有可能写句子的人错，有可能出题人错，也很可能阅读者错，都很多可能。其实句子开头也有used to 作为情态动词短语表“曾经”，这很少人区分到used还有作为形容词的用法，常与be/get 系动词作为搭配，这里你可能有疑惑为什么get可以作为系动词，这又延伸出get不只有vi,vt,还有常用的link v.系动词用法。说这么多我还是想说的是，如果到了一个死胡同，更倾向于不要去硬去钻。我再列下词典有这样提到2点： ![2023-08-29](https://forumcdn.freemdict.com/uploads/default/original/3X/9/f/9fdc4ff2998295cd852633b8805b85f9f30a8132.png) ![2023-08-29 (1)](https://forumcdn.freemdict.com/uploads/default/original/3X/b/5/b57adc1c7a414091f23fb8806b9b8a3ec5113700.png) ---

不用想得那么复杂，直接把它看成是can的过去式就好。 [现在] It **is now** that you **can** drive for miles here without seeing another person […] .
