# 牛津的简明词典、小词典、袖珍词典等具体有什么区别？

SCPL由大到小，最初都是脱胎于Oxford English Dictionary (OED)，但又各自面向特定的读者群，独具特色，尤其是Concise Oxford Dictionary (COD) 被誉为brief but comprenhensive in expression，这还得归功于COD的第一任主编福勒。但毕竟OED是A New English Dictionary on Historical Principles: Founded Mainly on the Materials Collected by The Philological Society，所以COD从第10版起改以Oxford Dictionary of English (ODE) 为母版了，名字也变成了现在的COED。

彩蛋：  
Dorling Kindersley和Oxford还曾合作出过Illustrated Dictionary，图片是DK的强项，文字是COD 9的，外研社引进出过双解版， ~~牛津建校~~ 牛津大学出版社成立500周年之际台湾旺文社出了繁体版《牛津当代大词典》，人大出了简体版《牛津当代百科大辞典》。不过我个人推荐惠宇外研社版的。
